The start of my blog

Having travelled many times to many countries on many different working assignments and holidays and today I finally decided its time I began to write down some of my thoughts, ideas and experiences along my journeys for whomever may find it entertaining, resourceful or merely just a way to spend time reading someone else's view on life.

We wake up we eat we breathe we play we sleep and so time quickly passes us by and before you know it you missed it all because you never had the time to sit and reflect on the many experiences, people, predicaments you got yourself into and out of. What's most sad is not having shared this with the younger generations for them to learn from your mistakes - if they so choose - and achieve greater things than they could have imagined having been inspired by your thoughts, ideas, dreams, ambitions and perhaps simply the reason you did something good or bad.

Here begins the epoch of my time on this wonderful, weird, complex and amazing planet we call the world. Let's see where it takes us in the days months and years to come.

This is my legacy to all generations.

Today Mon 8 Sep begins with a 3:45am start in a comfortable hotel room having driven up late last night to make the 6am flight from Heathrow to Zurich. I've lived there once but that's another story for another day. Airports ,people, crew, passengers, coffee and already the pilot is telling us a delay of one hour - fog in Zurich apparently. So all aboard all belted in and here we sit. This is the life of a traveller. Now you also need to understand I'm no small guy, 6ft talk, long legs and wide shoulders and today sitting in the middle of two other large shouldered guys. Why is it I never get to sit next to someone petite except when travelling with my wife? It is just the way it is I guess and nothing I do can predict my fellow seating travellers. The Swiss crew are not phased and have seen it all before. Their way of helping at 6am - hand out some Swiss chocolates. My stomach has not yet woken up and I'm sure people who are already a little irritated will now get the sugar cocoa boost they need to help escalate their frustration. Their is nothing one can do and this is a lesson for life - worry about the things you can change and focus your energies therein and go with the flow in the things you cannot change. Why some people try in vain to change the situation by shouting and moaning is a mystery. I cannot believe they feel any better after a rant?

And so the day the week has begun.
